About the Book

What does it mean to live desperate for Jesus? That depends on the Jesus you know. Some of us run to Him when things go wrong and move away from Him when life is smooth, but there's a better way to live.

Desperate for Jesus helps believers identify and conquer six obstacles:

  • Difficult seasons in life
  • Anger
  • Betrayal
  • Spiritual immaturity
  • The flesh

The more we crave Jesus, the more He will transform us and those around us. It's time to live desperate!

“All believers need this book! Thank you, John Hannah, for so candidly sharing your story and doing what you do best—bringing people to Jesus Christ. We must be desperate to know Him like the psalmist. In his deep thirst, his soul panted for the living waters. Our souls must thirst for Him. The path you lay out in this book to bring us to that place where we run to living waters is life-changing. All who are quenched with the Living Water will thirst no more.”

“In this book, Pastor Hannah shares personal and profound stories from his life, inspiring us not simply to seek an experience with God, but also an encounter with Him. Thoroughly woven with Scripture and personal stories, Desperate for Jesus encourages believers to perform an evaluation of self, spirit, and sacrifice. Thank you, Pastor Hannah, for not only reminding us to remain desperate for Jesus, but also guiding us to that place.”

“Desperate for Jesus is full of inspiration and wisdom! Pastor Hannah reminds us that there will be days our faith will waver: When you can’t pray, surround yourself with prayer warriors. When you can’t stand, surround yourself with people who’ll stand for you and with you. In those times, surrounding ourselves with prayer support is crucial; it can ultimately determine our outcome. I thank God for this book. It will encourage, empower, and give greater insight into your Christian journey! ”

“I understand that God has given me a platform, and that my job is not to hoard that platform but to bring young men and women of leadership onto that platform. John Hannah wasn’t looking for a platform. But because of his audacious, blind faith, his desperation for God’s presence, and his willingness to meet people where they live, God has prepared and blessed him. It’s phenomenal what he’s accomplishing in Chicago. He is part of something God is doing that is much bigger than any of us. And it’s time his story of desperation for Jesus—and all the obstacles we face in pursuit of Him—reaches beyond church walls to where people really live.”

“I love what my friend John Hannah says about finding true life in Desperate for Jesus. If anyone can speak on being desperate for Jesus, it’s John. I’ve known him for seventeen years now and have witnessed his amazing journey as God has blessed him to pastor one of the fastest-growing churches in our nation. Over the course of that journey, John’s passion and desperation for our Savior has not diminished one bit. In fact, it has only grown stronger. His humility, transparency, and love for God and His people are apparent throughout this book as John candidly shares his story and what it looks like to live desperate for Jesus, In these pages, he offers a gift for the body of Christ. Well done!”

“Most Christians desire a deep, meaningful, and transforming relationship with Jesus, but many aren’t sure about how to get it. In Desperate for Jesus, John Hannah brilliantly brings Scripture to life as he draws from his own personal story to help us confront and overcome every challenge that keeps us from experiencing the fullness of God’s story in our lives. This is a must-read book for anyone seeking a more practical, powerful, and personal relationship with God.”

“Knowing Pastor John Hannah personally over the last three years as my mentor, I know this is a man who is in fact desperate for Jesus—still. In this book, he discusses personal struggles, seasons, and situations that have shaped him into the godly man he is today. However, these obstacles are not what have made him desperate for Jesus. Rather because Pastor Hannah is desperate for his Savior, he has overcome hard times. You will too. For anyone struggling with the problems and issues that life inevitably brings, this book is for you!”
